Following widespread reports of the detention of Atyrau city mayor Shakir Keikin and his deputy Meirzhan Mukasov, the head of the "Suzsiz Qorqau" law firm, Nurlan Zholbolov, has provided an official clarification. He stated that both officials are currently at work and continuing their duties.

Clarification on Detention Reports

"These individuals were questioned as part of a criminal case under the jurisdiction of law enforcement agencies, where lawyers from our firm are providing them with services," Zholbolov explained. "I state responsibly that neither the deputy mayor nor the mayor himself have been detained. They are currently on duty and continuing their work."

Deputy Mayor's Status

Another lawyer from the firm, Aslan Zholbolov, added that Meirzhan Mukasov holds the status of a witness with the right to protection. He also confirmed that no procedural agreement has been made with Mukasov.
