Earthquake Jolts Pavlodar Region Near Ekibastuz
A moderate earthquake struck the Pavlodar region of Kazakhstan this morning, causing tremors felt by residents. The seismic event occurred on May 26th at 11:28 AM Astana time.
Epicenter Location and Magnitude
According to data from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the earthquake's epicenter was situated approximately 15 kilometers southeast of the city of Ekibastuz. This is about 130 kilometers southwest of Pavlodar city. The tremor registered a magnitude of 4.5.
Tremors Felt in Local Communities
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the earthquake's origin was identified near the village of Bayanaul in the Bayanaul district. In Bayanaul village itself, the intensity of the underground tremors was recorded at 2 points. Fortunately, no significant damage or injuries have been reported.
This seismic activity follows another earthquake that occurred near Almaty on May 24th, though its epicenter was located within Kyrgyzstan.
