Journalist Flies to India to Repatriate Sperm of 16-Year-Old Kazakh Teen

Journalist Ruslan Otepbay has embarked on an urgent mission to India with a critical objective: to bring home the cryopreserved sperm of 16-year-old Sunqar Sabit. The young Kazakh boy's genetic material was stored at a medical facility in India after his untimely passing.

A Young Life Cut Short

Sunqar Sabit, a resident of the Kyzylorda region, had traveled to Delhi, India, with his mother to undergo treatment for testicular cancer. Before commencing chemotherapy, doctors recommended cryopreserving his sperm to preserve his future potential for fatherhood.

Tragically, Sunqar succumbed not to cancer, but to a ruptured blood clot in his heart. He had been undergoing medical treatment for 12 days prior to his death.

Ruslan Otepbay's Humanitarian Mission

The grieving mother's primary wish now is to have her son's sperm returned to Kazakhstan. To facilitate this, journalist Ruslan Otepbay announced his departure for India today, acknowledging the complexities and unique nature of this endeavor.

Previously, the deceased boy's mother, Raihan Malikova, had alleged being deceived by intermediaries from the 'Medical Travel' company. However, the company's management has stated that no funds were received from the mother.

This effort highlights the profound emotional and logistical challenges families face when dealing with sensitive medical procedures and international arrangements after a loss.
