Kazakh Citizen Faces Scrutiny After Mobile Payments at Store
A Kazakh citizen has found himself under scrutiny after making frequent mobile payments at a local store, a situation that has sparked widespread discussion on social media. The individual claims that the Financial Monitoring Agency took notice of his transactions.
How It All Started
According to a user on Threads, the incident began in December when he frequently shopped at a store, making payments through mobile transfers. These transactions reportedly started at 4,000 tenge. The user advised others, "If a store insists on payment via transfer, consider shopping elsewhere. This is how I ended up under financial monitoring."
Official Response
The State Revenue Committee (SRC) clarified that no investigation has been initiated regarding this case. They stated that mobile transfers are monitored solely to detect undeclared income.
When Are Investigations Triggered?
An investigation may occur if an individual receives money from more than 100 different people over three consecutive months, and the total exceeds 12 minimum wages. By 2026, this threshold will be 1.02 million tenge.
National Bank's Stance
The National Bank emphasized that there are no restrictions on transfers between individuals, and such information is considered banking secrecy.
