Kazakh Investigator Solves 2015 Russian Murder Case
A seasoned investigator from the Abai region police department has successfully concluded a criminal case involving a murder that occurred in Russia back in 2015. The breakthrough brings closure to a case that spanned years and involved intricate investigative work.
The Crime and Its Aftermath
The crime was committed by a group of four individuals who orchestrated a meeting with the victim under the guise of purchasing an expensive car. During the encounter, the perpetrators attacked the man with a knife and then ran him over with a vehicle, attempting to conceal the evidence and complete their criminal objective. The victim tragically died at the scene due to his injuries. Following the murder, the assailants fled with the stolen vehicle.
Years of Persistent Investigation
Despite the passage of time since the crime, the efforts to identify all members of the criminal group never ceased. The investigation proceeded in close collaboration with Russian law enforcement agencies. Investigator Azhar Sartova of the Abai region police department undertook a significant volume of meticulous work. This included interviewing witnesses, examining individuals involved in the case, analyzing correspondence between participants, reviewing surveillance footage, and dispatching numerous international and interdepartmental requests.
Final Suspect Apprehended
Through diligent evidence gathering and the reconstruction of the crime's full narrative, the final member of the criminal group, who had been evading justice, was located. This suspect was placed on an international wanted list and was apprehended in Almaty in 2024 by police. Prior to this, three other participants in the crime had already been convicted: one by a court in Barnaul, and the other two by a court in the East Kazakhstan region. The criminal case against the last suspect has now been completed and forwarded to the Abai region court. He was found guilty of murder and robbery and sentenced to 17 years in prison.
