Kazakh Language and History Now Mandatory in Foreign Universities in Kazakhstan
Foreign universities and their branches operating within Kazakhstan will soon be required to include Kazakh language and history as mandatory subjects for their students. This significant legislative change aims to deepen the understanding of the nation's heritage among a wider student population.
New Educational Mandate
The requirement was announced by Member of Parliament Nartay Aralbaiuly via his social media page. He highlighted that the Committee on Social and Cultural Development of the Parliament's Majilis has approved this crucial addition to educational standards.
Ensuring Cultural Integration
According to the MP, a new clause has been incorporated into the draft law "On the Status of the Teacher." This clause stipulates that "Branches of foreign higher and/or postgraduate educational organizations and foreign educational organizations shall ensure an educational quality not lower than the requirements of the relevant state mandatory educational standards, by mandatorily teaching the subjects 'History of Kazakhstan' and 'Kazakh Language.'"
Aralbaiuly indicated that the bill containing this new requirement is expected to proceed to its second reading in the near future.
