Kazakhstan Braces for Severe Weather: Thunderstorms, Hail, and Strong Winds Expected
Kazakhstan is preparing for a significant shift in weather as unstable conditions are expected to dominate the country in the final days of May. Forecasters from Kazhydromet have issued a warning for severe weather, including thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds, from May 28 to May 30.
Cause of the Weather Change
The volatile weather is attributed to the passage of a northwest cyclone and its associated atmospheric fronts. This system is predicted to bring rain accompanied by thunderstorms to large parts of the nation. Heavy rainfall and hail are particularly anticipated in the southern, southeastern, and central regions on May 28. The northern and eastern areas can expect similar conditions on May 28 and 29. During this period, wind speeds are expected to increase significantly, leading to gale-force winds.
Regional Temperature Forecasts
Temperatures are also set to fluctuate across the country. In the western regions of Kazakhstan, daytime temperatures are forecast to drop to between +15 and +25 degrees Celsius. For the northwestern, northern, and central areas, initial temperatures will hover around +17 to +25 degrees Celsius, with a rise to +20 to +33 degrees Celsius expected by the end of the week. Eastern regions will see temperatures ranging from +15 to +25 degrees Celsius, climbing to +20 to +30 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, in the south and southeast, temperatures will initially decrease to +20 to +28 degrees Celsius before warming up to +27 to +38 degrees Celsius.
