Kazakhstan Health Ministry Investigates Rudny Hospital Over Drug Shortages

The Ministry of Health in Kazakhstan has launched an unscheduled inspection into the Rudny City Multiprofile Hospital following serious allegations of medicine and medical supply shortages. The investigation was initiated after a blogger detailed concerning conditions within the hospital's therapy department.

Concerns Raised by Blogger

Blogger Tatyana Turlay brought attention to the situation, stating her mother had been receiving treatment at the hospital for three weeks. During this period, Turlay observed a significant lack of basic medical supplies and essential medications. Her post highlighted instances where nurses resorted to using improvised materials to assist patients due to the unavailability of proper equipment.

The situation was reportedly so dire that some medical staff allegedly purchased necessary items with their own money to ensure patient care. Furthermore, patients were allegedly forced to buy their own medications, even though they were covered by medical insurance payments.

Ministry's Response and Commitment

In response to these serious claims, the Committee for Medical and Pharmaceutical Control of the Ministry of Health confirmed it is investigating the hospital's continuous supply of medicines and medical devices. The ministry has pledged to take appropriate measures based on the inspection's findings to guarantee the provision of high-quality and timely medical assistance to the public.
