Kazakhstan Schools Begin Longest Term: When is the Next Break?

As of January 8, students across Kazakhstan have embarked on the longest school term of the year, spanning 10 weeks. This period is a crucial phase in the academic calendar, following a brief winter break.

Return from Winter Break

Students returned to their classrooms after a winter holiday that began on December 29, 2025, and lasted for 10 days, including weekends and public holidays. This break provided a much-needed respite before the demanding third term.

Impact of Remote Learning

At the end of the second term, a significant number of students transitioned to remote learning due to the spread of acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI). On November 27, approximately 250,000 students across 13 regions were shifted to online classes. The Ministry of Education has assured that these lessons will be made up, with special measures in place to assess and ensure the students' understanding of the material.

Upcoming Breaks and End of Academic Year

The next scheduled break is the spring holiday, set from March 19 to March 29, lasting 11 days. The fourth and final term will last 8 weeks, concluding on May 25.
