Kazakhstan's Popular Zerendi Resort Road Undergoing Major Upgrade

Residents and tourists heading to the popular Zerendi resort in Kazakhstan's Akmola region will soon enjoy smoother and safer journeys. A significant 47-kilometer section of the Kokshetau-Zerendi highway is currently undergoing extensive renovation and widening.

Enhanced Safety on the Horizon

The upgrade project, which commenced last year, aims to significantly improve road safety. Previously, the road from the regional center to the resort village was only 7 meters wide. The ongoing modernization has already led to a notable reduction in road traffic accidents, with figures dropping by 30-40 percent.

Project Progress and Timeline

According to Daryn Arinov, the head of the construction site, the section from the 21st to the 47th kilometer was fully repaired last year. This year, asphalt paving continues on the remaining segment. Only 9 kilometers of the top asphalt layer are left to be laid. The project is slated for completion by July.

Broader Road Improvements in the Region

Beyond the Zerendi route, other districts in the region are also seeing substantial road improvements. This year, major repair works will be completed in the Esil, Zhaksy, and Ereymentau districts, covering nearly 60 kilometers of revitalized roads. Additionally, a bridge construction is underway at the 81st kilometer of the Zhaksy-Esil-Buzuluk highway, and a pedestrian crossing is being built near Ereymentau on the Astana-Ereymentau-Shiderty highway.

Investing in Road Infrastructure

Overall, Akmola region is set to repair over 400 kilometers of roads this year. A substantial budget of 72 billion tenge has been allocated for the modernization of the region's road infrastructure, underscoring a commitment to improving connectivity and accessibility.
