Makpal Zhunusova Recalls Heartbreaking Competition Setback

People's Artist of Kazakhstan, Makpal Zhunusova, has opened up about one of the most challenging periods in her life and career. Sharing an archival video on her social media, the renowned singer recounted an instance where, despite winning a major competition, she was unable to advance to the finals, an experience that brought her to tears.

A Disappointing Turn of Events

Zhunusova explained that she had emerged victorious in a significant competition held in Almaty, earning the most votes among 3,000 participants. While she had dedicated two months to preparing for the final round in Moscow, a notification arrived from the Ministry of Culture just two weeks before the event.

The message revealed that Bakhtiyar Tailakbaev, who had not participated in the initial selection process, would be competing in the finals instead. This news deeply affected Zhunusova, bringing back painful memories.

"I remembered the times I cried and felt terrible," Makpal Zhunusova wrote, reflecting on the profound disappointment of that moment.
