Mukhtar Jakishev's In-Laws Visit Almaty, Embrace Kazakh Culture

Former Kazatomprom CEO Mukhtar Jakishev's in-laws, who reside in London, recently visited Almaty, immersing themselves in Kazakh culture and traditions.

The visit was shared by Ene Obi, the mother-in-law, on her social media. She and her husband, who are of Black African descent, traveled to Almaty to experience the rich heritage of the Kazakh people.

Experiencing Kazakh Traditions

During their stay, the couple visited the Shymbulak mountain resort. They participated in various traditional activities, including dressing in national attire, trying archery, horse riding, and enjoying the 'altybakān' (a traditional swing). They also witnessed the Kazakh ritual of 'kelin tusiru,' a ceremony welcoming a new bride into the family.

A Cultural Revelation

Ene Obi expressed her delight and amazement at the richness of Kazakh culture. She praised the fresh mountain air and the renowned hospitality of the Kazakh people. "Travel is not just about seeing the world, but also a great opportunity to learn so much from this wonderful world. I am very happy to have come to Almaty and met our relatives," she stated.

She also highlighted a special massage organized for her by Altynai, Jakishev's daughter. "Massages in Asia and Africa are something else, they find all the knots in your body and refresh you," Ene Obi wrote.

Family Reunions

Mukhtar Jakishev's daughter, Altynai, was born in 1999 and married in London. She had to leave the country when her father was imprisoned. Now, the family is joyfully reuniting and spending happy moments with their new relatives.

This visit marks a significant moment for the family, bridging cultures and celebrating new connections amidst traditional Kazakh festivities.
