Nazarbayev's Grandson Vows to Continue Grandmother's Educational Legacy

Nurali Aliyev, grandson of Kazakhstan's First President Nursultan Nazarbayev, has announced his intention to further develop the 'Self-Knowledge' educational program, originally founded by his grandmother, Sara Alpysovna Nazarbayeva.

Aliyev shared his commitment in a recent interview, emphasizing the critical importance of providing spiritual and moral education to young people. He stated that continuing this work is essential.

The 'Self-Knowledge' Initiative

The 'Self-Knowledge' subject was integrated into the school curriculum in Kazakhstan starting with the 2010-2011 academic year. Spearheaded by Sara Nazarbayeva, the course aimed to cultivate virtues such as compassion, kindness, and inner harmony among students.

Curriculum Changes

Despite its initial integration, the Ministry of Education in Kazakhstan decided in 2022 to remove the subject from the list of mandatory disciplines, making it an optional course instead.
