Netanyahu Seeks Talks with Zelensky on Iran's Drones

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has officially requested a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to Israeli publication Ynet. The primary objective of this initiative is to strengthen cooperation between the two nations in combating Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles.

Evgeny Korniychuk, Ukraine's Ambassador to Israel, confirmed the report. He noted that while a meeting has not yet occurred due to the busy schedules of both leaders, it is possible it could take place early next week.

Rising Tensions Over Drone Involvement

This diplomatic outreach follows recent escalations in rhetoric concerning Iran's role in the conflict. Previously, the chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security Committee, Ebrahim Azizi, declared Ukraine a "legal target" in its conflict with the US and Israel. Azizi suggested that by supporting Israel, Ukraine had become a legitimate target for Iran.

Kyiv responded to these remarks by referencing Tehran's alleged support for Russia in its war against Ukraine. Andrey Kovalenko, head of the National Security and Defense Council's Center for Countering Disinformation, highlighted Iran's provision of "Shahed" drones to Russia in 2022.
