Nurlan Saburov Jokes About His Deportation from Russia
Kazakh comedian Nurlan Saburov has humorously commented on his recent deportation from Russia, finding a peculiar silver lining in the situation.
During an event held in Kazakhstan, Saburov, known for his stand-up performances, shared a lighthearted take on the circumstances that led to his forced departure from Russia.
Saburov's Joke
Addressing the event organizers, Saburov quipped about the recent events, stating, "I hope we see each other often. My wife sends her regards. Thank God she is not with us right now – that's the only joy after this situation," the comedian remarked.
According to social media reports, the event took place in a hall at the Rixos Hotel in Astana. It was previously reported that the venue hosted the christening ceremony for the son of Alibek Mukhatayev, a businessman from the capital and vice-president of the International Kokpar Association.
Background of the Deportation
Saburov was banned from entering Russia for 50 years. The comedian was detained at Vnukovo Airport upon his return from Dubai. He declined deportation to the United Arab Emirates and instead flew to Kazakhstan on his own accord.
It was later revealed that the National Security Committee (KNB) was conducting an investigation into him. This followed the publication of a video showing him handing over 10 motorcycles to the "Wagner Legion Istra" group, a unit associated with the Wagner PMC, and wishing the fighters "a victorious return."
