Real Madrid Fines Valverde and Tchouaméni After Training Ground Altercation
Real Madrid has closed its internal disciplinary case concerning a training ground altercation between midfielders Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni. The club has imposed substantial fines on both players following the incident.
Internal Investigation Concluded
Reports of the dispute during a Real Madrid training session emerged last Thursday. The club immediately announced it would conduct an internal investigation into the matter. The investigation concluded yesterday, leading to the decision to fine the players a total of one million euros.
A club statement read: "The players have expressed their regret and apologized to each other. They have apologized to the club, their teammates, the coaching staff, and the fans. Both are prepared to accept the punishment the club deems appropriate. In such situations, Real Madrid has decided to fine each player 500,000 euros."
The Valverde and Tchouaméni Dispute
The incident reportedly began during a training session on Wednesday, with the disagreement escalating on Thursday. The altercation continued into the locker room, with one account suggesting Valverde required hospital treatment. While one version claims he was hit by a teammate, another suggests he fell and hit himself on the edge of a table. Regardless of the exact cause, the club issued two official statements following the conflict.
Valverde himself stated that there was no fight between him and his teammate, and he simply "hit the table." The club also released a medical statement confirming that Federico would be sidelined for the next two weeks.
This situation comes just before Real Madrid's crucial match against Barcelona on May 10th or 11th. A victory for Barcelona in this El Clásico would secure their league title. Currently, Real Madrid sits second in the league table with 77 points after 34 rounds, trailing leaders Barcelona by 11 points.
Following the altercation between Valverde and Tchouaméni, the club decided that Vinícius Júnior would captain Real Madrid in the upcoming match against Barcelona.
