Renowned Kazakh Theater Scholar Gulzhikhan Zhanspayeva Passes Away

Kazakhstan's cultural landscape is in mourning following the passing of Gulzhikhan Abuqyzy Zhanspayeva, a distinguished theater scholar and the inaugural rector of the T. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts.

A Life Dedicated to the Arts

Zhanspayeva began her extensive career in 1955 as a theater inspector at the Ministry of Culture. Her professional journey later saw her hold significant leadership roles, including directorships at the G. Musirepov Kazakh State Children's and Youth Theater and the Almaty State Theater and Art Institute. She notably served as the first rector of the T. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts, leaving an indelible mark on the institution.

Her contributions were instrumental in the development of theater arts in Kazakhstan. Zhanspayeva mentored numerous talented individuals, fostering the growth of stage performance and guiding it to new heights.

Community Engagement

Beyond her artistic endeavors, Gulzhikhan Abuqyzy was an active figure in public life. She was elected as a deputy to city and district councils on multiple occasions, dedicating her efforts to advocating for the interests of the people.

The Ministry of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan has extended its condolences to Zhanspayeva's family and loved ones, recognizing her immense contributions to the nation's culture and arts.
