A seemingly ordinary taxi journey in Almaty took a dramatic turn, culminating in a police chase and a traffic accident. The incident began when a passenger allegedly threatened the taxi driver with a weapon, forcing the driver to seek help from law enforcement.

Police Intervention on the Ring Road

According to the Almaty City Police Department, officers on patrol along the Northern Ring Road noticed a KIA vehicle approaching them. The driver of the KIA, a foreign national, signaled for assistance.

The driver reported that a passenger seated in the back threatened him with an object resembling a firearm. The passenger allegedly demanded to be driven to a settlement in the Almaty region.

Toy Gun Revealed, Accident Occurs

Responding swiftly, law enforcement officers initiated a stop to apprehend the suspect. During the investigation, it was discovered that the weapon used in the threat was, in fact, a toy gun.

However, the taxi driver's ordeal was not over. As police were detaining the suspect, another vehicle, driven by a passerby curious about the commotion, collided with the KIA taxi.
