Tragedy in Shchuchinsk: Gas Explosion at Cafe Claims Six Lives

A tragic gas explosion at a cafe in Shchuchinsk, Akmola region, has claimed the lives of six people. The blast also triggered a fire in the building, compounding the disaster.

Emergency Response

Emergency services from the Akmola Region Department of Emergency Situations (DS) arrived at the scene within five minutes of the incident. The cafe, a single-story structure attached to a residential building in the Burabay district's city of Shchuchinsk, was engulfed in flames following the explosion.

Rescue Operations

According to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, rescuers successfully removed eight gas cylinders from the damaged building. More than 10 individuals were safely evacuated from the hazardous area.

Casualties and Investigation

Preliminary reports indicate that approximately 20 people were affected by the incident, with six confirmed fatalities. The fire has been completely extinguished, and rescue teams are currently engaged in clearing debris. The exact causes and circumstances surrounding the explosion are under active investigation.

Work at the site continues, with leadership from the Department of Emergency Situations, the Deputy Governor of the region, firefighters, rescuers, medical personnel, police, and gas technical inspection specialists mobilized to the scene.
