WhatsApp Messages Spark Fatal Sibling Rivalry in Kazakhstan
A dispute over messages exchanged on WhatsApp has tragically ended in the death of a brother in Kazakhstan. The Specialized Interdistrict Court for Criminal Cases in the Almaty region has delivered a verdict for the 34-year-old man found guilty of killing his elder sibling.
The Fatal Confrontation
The incident occurred on February 11th of this year in the town of Yessik, near Almaty. The conflict began when Kamil Khudayberdiev received inappropriate messages from his older brother, Bakhtiyar, on a morning in February. Attempts to resolve the issue over the phone failed, leading the brothers to agree to meet.
Escalation to Violence
During their meeting, the verbal argument quickly turned violent. Kamil Khudayberdiev fatally stabbed his brother Bakhtiyar 16 times, inflicting critical injuries to vital organs including the heart, liver, lungs, and intestines. The defendant claimed self-defense, stating he struck first out of fear of an attack from his brother.
A Tragic Aftermath
Court documents reveal the heartbreaking final moments of Bakhtiyar, who reportedly died in Kamil's arms, asking for forgiveness. Two other brothers arrived at the scene to discover the lifeless body of one of their siblings.
Court's Decision
The court acknowledged Kamil Khudayberdiev's full confession and remorse. The decision was also influenced by the victim's third brother, Timur, who chose not to press charges and forgave the defendant. Taking these factors into account, the court sentenced Kamil to the minimum penalty for the charge: eight years of imprisonment. This verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
Such instances of uncontrolled anger within families are a somber reminder of how quickly a moment of lost patience can irrevocably alter lives, leading one sibling to the grave and another to prison.
