10-Year-Old Boy's Three-Year Battle with Insomnia Leaves Parents Desperate
In Kyzylorda، a 10-year-old boy named Alinur Rakhym has been battling a severe case of insomnia for three years، with his nights turning into a constant struggle. The child's condition، where he sleeps for a mere hour each night، is causing immense worry for his parents.
Alinur's mother، Ainash Kaipbaeva، shared that her son's sleeplessness is worsening daily. "My son barely sleeps at night، maybe just for an hour. When I ask him if he's tired، he says no، Mom، I'm not tired. Every night has become a real torment for us. When I tell the doctors، they don't believe me،" she said.
Medical Efforts Prove Unsuccessful
According to reports، the family has sought medical help multiple times. However، all examinations and tests have shown normal results. Despite doctors prescribing sedatives، they have had no effect on Alinur.
The Child's Own Struggle
Alinur himself is visibly suffering from the effects of his insomnia. His eyes are often swollen، and he appears perpetually drowsy. "I want to sleep، but I can't. Even if I go to bed early، I can't sleep until late. The medicines don't help. My head hurts when I'm awake. Sometimes I think I've fallen asleep، but when I look at the clock، only 5-10 minutes have passed،" Alinur Rakhym explained.
Lack of Sleep May Lead to Cognitive Impairment
Recently، Alinur's mother noticed a decline in his memory. Specialists suggest this could be a consequence of chronic sleep deprivation. "When a child doesn't get enough sleep، such situations can occur. This can lead to cognitive impairments، emotional disturbances، and future physical consequences،" stated pediatrician and psychiatrist Marina Vikhnovskaya.
Experts Recommend Comprehensive Examination
Medical professionals believe it is crucial to conduct a comprehensive examination of the child immediately to determine the cause of his condition. "He needs to be seen by a pediatric neurologist، as it's necessary to record his electroencephalogram while he sleeps at night. His neurological condition needs monitoring. The solution will be determined from there،" advised neurologist Assem Kasenova.
While insomnia was once considered more common in older adults، experts are now observing it more frequently in children. One of the primary contributing factors cited is excessive dependence on smartphones.
