Iran Warns of "Massive Attack" on US Bases Amid Tensions

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued a strong warning، stating that any attack on its oil tankers or commercial vessels will be met with a "massive attack" on American bases and enemy ships in the region. This declaration comes amid escalating tensions and follows recent strikes on two Iranian oil tankers.

IRGC's Warning Issued

The IRGC's statement، as reported by Iran's Tasnim agency، explicitly declared: "Any attack on Iranian oil tankers and commercial ships will be met with a powerful attack on American bases and enemy ships in the region."

Context of the Strikes

This warning was issued after the United States struck two Iranian oil tankers، an action that has cast doubt on the ongoing ceasefire that has been in place for a month. US military officials stated that the tankers were attempting to break a blockade of Iranian ports.

Iranian Foreign Minister's Response

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi strongly criticized the US for resuming strikes in recent days. In a social media post، he challenged Washington's assessments of Iran's strike capabilities، emphasizing the nation's readiness to resume military actions.

"Whenever a diplomatic solution is on the table، the US chooses reckless military adventurism. Is this a simple tactic of pressure؟ Or is it the result of some saboteur deceiving the US President again and pushing him into another quagmire؟ Whatever the reasons، the result is the same: the Iranians will never bow to pressure،" the minister wrote.

He further added، "Furthermore، the CIA is mistaken. Our missile reserves and launch capabilities are not 75 percent of the level on February 28. The correct figure is 120 percent. And as for our readiness to defend our people، it is 1000 percent."

Regional Situation

Earlier on Wednesday، Iran's top diplomat indicated that Tehran expects support from China in forming a new post-war regional structure following the conflict with the US. This statement suggests a desire for new geopolitical alliances in the face of ongoing regional instability.

On May 1، the White House informed Congress that military actions against Iran had "concluded،" despite the continued presence of American forces in the region. This statement from the US administration adds another layer of complexity to the evolving situation.
