Kazakhstan Launches Largest Ship، Boosting Naval Capabilities
Kazakhstan has officially launched its largest domestically built ship، a significant milestone for the nation's naval capabilities. The vessel، constructed at the Zenit plant in Oral، has now set sail for the Caspian Sea.
Strengthening National Defense
The launch ceremony was attended by Naryman Turegaliyev، the Akim (Governor) of the West Kazakhstan region. He congratulated the team behind this crucial project، emphasizing that its realization was a direct initiative of the President and commissioned by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
"The Head of State، Kassym-Jomart Tokayev، has set clear objectives for strengthening our country's defense capabilities. Today، thanks to the high professionalism and dedicated work of the Zenit plant's team، we are launching the largest ship in Kazakhstan،" Turegaliyev stated. He also announced that the vessel has been named in honor of Dinmukhamed Kunaev، a prominent statesman and public figure.
Key Vessel Specifications
According to the press service of the regional Akimat، this marks the 37th vessel to be produced by the Zenit plant. The ship boasts a water displacement of 720 tons and a cargo hold volume of 30 cubic meters. Its maximum speed is reported to be up to 16 knots per hour.
Vitaly Kaplunov، General Director of Zenit-Oral Plant JSC، shared further details، noting the ship's dimensions: 51 meters in length and 9.5 meters in width. It is engineered to withstand storms of up to 8 Beaufort. The successful execution of this project involved the collective effort of all plant employees.
Operational Role and Crew
This multi-purpose vessel is designed to provide essential supplies، including diesel fuel، drinking water، food، and other logistical support، to the ships and boats of the Military Naval Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The crew will consist of approximately 30 personnel، with comfortable living conditions provided for them.
Prior to its full deployment، the ship's mast will be installed at the port of Aktau to allow it to pass under bridges.
