A Name with Historical Significance

Konstitutsiya Nartbayeva's parents faced immense heartbreak after losing several children before her birth. Her father، Orynbek Sultanbekov، was a respected figure in their village. On December 5th، the day Konstitutsiya was born، the celebrated national hero، writer، and soldier Baursan Momyshuly visited their home.

A Hero's Choice

Upon learning that the newborn was a girl، Momyshuly offered to choose her name. He then bestowed upon her the name 'Konstitutsiya،' a name that would later resonate with the country's own journey towards independence.

Living with a Landmark Name

Throughout her life، Konstitutsiya Nartbayeva has encountered surprise and curiosity regarding her name. In her youth، she even considered changing it، recalling how friends would call her by nicknames like Katya or Katyusha. She remembers the astonished reactions from people at banks and other official places.

"Why did you name me this way؟" she would wonder as a child، contemplating a name change. However، she eventually decided against altering a name given with such intention. "I came to the decision that there was no need to change a name given at the time of my birth. I have lived for 68 years with this name،" she shared.

A Life of Service and Family

Konstitutsiya Nartbayeva، who served for 40 years in the medical field، now lives between Astana and Taraz، surrounded by her grandchildren. She has two sons.
