Kazakhstan's Table Tennis Teams Soar in World Rankings After Historic Championship Performance

Kazakhstan's men's national table tennis team has climbed an impressive 7 spots in the international rankings، marking a historic achievement following their performance at the recent World Championships. The Kazakhstan Table Tennis Federation announced the significant leap in standings.

The latest rankings، released by the International Table Tennis Federation، show China leading the global charge. However، Kazakhstan's men's team has advanced from 25th to 17th place، while the women's team has moved up from 37th to 31st position.

Historic Championship Success Fuels Ranking Boost

This notable improvement is directly attributed to the teams' strong showing at the World Team Table Tennis Championships. Both the men's and women's squads successfully advanced to the knockout stages of the tournament. The men's team notably defeated Spain in the Round of 32، setting a new national record for their performance at the world event. This success saw the men's team finish 9th overall، and the women's team secured 17th place، both representing the highest rankings in their respective histories.

Kirill Gerassimenko Leads the Charge

A key figure in Kazakhstan's table tennis resurgence is 29-year-old Kirill Gerassimenko، the team's star player. Gerassimenko recently competed in his third consecutive Olympic Games in 2024، reaching the Round of 16 and setting another national record. He currently resides in Germany، where he plays for the SV Werder Bremen club.

This success in table tennis follows other notable achievements in Kazakhstani sports، including tennis player Elena Rybakina closing the gap on Aryna Sabalenka in the rankings and the national football team also moving up one spot in the FIFA rankings.
