Mangystau Region Implements New 'Filter' Checkpoints to Enhance Road Safety

The Mangystau region has introduced a novel approach to bolster road safety with the implementation of 'filter' checkpoints. This new system aims to enhance security by conducting selective checks on drivers and their vehicles.

How the New Checkpoints Operate

According to Taiman Anshybaev، commander of the regional police department's patrol police company، these 'filter' checkpoints are specially organized zones. Here، the road width is temporarily narrowed، and the speed of traffic is reduced. This controlled environment allows law enforcement officers to effectively stop drivers، inspect their documents، and monitor compliance with traffic regulations.

Location and Purpose

Currently، one of these checkpoints is situated at the 144th kilometer of the Aktau-Beineu highway، near the village of Shetpe. At this location، patrol police officers engage in preventative discussions with drivers and oversee adherence to traffic rules.

Project Effectiveness and Goals

Taiman Anshybaev reported that this project، undertaken in collaboration with the vehicle inspection authorities، has already yielded positive results. The introduction of 'filter' checkpoints is intended to create a safer environment for all road users and reduce the number of road traffic accidents in the region.

"We urge drivers to approach the new regulations with understanding and strictly adhere to traffic rules،" Anshybaev stated.

As a reminder، significant changes came into effect on March 12، 2026، across Kazakhstan، introducing automatic detection of mobile phone use by drivers while operating a vehicle. This means violations can now be penalized using new technologies without the direct presence of an inspector.
