Woman Acquitted in Husband's Death Released from Courtroom in Aktobe
In a surprising turn of events in Aktobe، a 37-year-old woman، Ksenia Sedova، accused of killing her husband، has been released from the courtroom. The case، which initially saw her charged with murder، was later reclassified، leading to her acquittal under an amnesty law.
Domestic Dispute Escalates
The incident reportedly occurred last spring. According to investigative findings، a heated argument erupted between Sedova and her husband، who arrived home intoxicated while she was preparing food in the summer kitchen. During the altercation، Sedova inflicted two stab wounds on her husband، which proved fatal.
Legal Battles and Expert Opinions
Initially taken into custody on murder charges، the case was subsequently reclassified as killing in a state of affective disorder. This reclassification allowed Sedova to benefit from an amnesty. However، the victim's side challenged the state's forensic report، commissioning a private expert. This expert concluded that Sedova was not in an affective state at the time of the crime. Consequently، in October 2025، she was taken back into custody.
History of Domestic Violence
During the trial، evidence emerged detailing the husband's history of alcohol dependency and the frequent domestic abuse Sedova endured. She reported multiple complaints to the police regarding his violence، stating she was physically assaulted on the day of the tragic incident.
Court's Final Decision
The Specialized Inter-district Criminal Court of Aktobe region sentenced Sedova to 1 year and 6 months of imprisonment for killing in a state of affective disorder. However، due to the application of the amnesty law، she was released directly from the courtroom. Prior to the court's final verdict، a regional expert's conclusion was deemed invalid because the accused had not been personally examined.
