11 Horses Tragically Killed After Being Hit by Train in Kazakhstan
A tragic incident occurred on the railway line in the Akmola region of Kazakhstan, where a train collided with and killed 11 horses. The accident happened near the Tortqulaq-Solet railway crossing.
Train Crew's Efforts Unsuccessful
The train was traveling on the Ereymentau-Altayntau route when the driver spotted the animals on the tracks. Despite immediately applying the brakes, the heavy train could not stop in time to avoid the collision. The devastating impact resulted in the immediate death of all 11 horses.
Train Movement Delayed
Following the accident, the train's movement was halted for 23 minutes. This delay underscores the severity of the incident and the disruption caused.
Livestock Owner Held Responsible
Transport police quickly identified the owner of the horses. The individual, a 35-year-old herdsman working for a farm, was found to have violated livestock grazing regulations by allowing the animals to wander near the railway. He has since been subjected to disciplinary action.
Recurring Problem on Railways
This incident is not an isolated one. According to police data, trains have been forced to brake unexpectedly 234 times since the beginning of the year. Of these, 167 instances involved livestock. Transport police are reminding livestock owners that grazing animals near railway lines and leaving them unattended is strictly prohibited.
This incident highlights the critical need for responsible livestock management to prevent such devastating and costly accidents.
