Aqtobe Couple's Mysterious Deaths: Murder-Suicide Case Closed
A criminal investigation into the deaths of a couple found deceased on the outskirts of Aqtobe last November has been closed, with investigators confirming a tragic murder-suicide scenario. The man killed his wife before taking his own life.
The incident sent shockwaves through the Aqtobe community. Details of the couple's final moments emerged during a court hearing, shedding light on the events of November 20, 2025, when they left home to buy meat and were later found dead.
Court Proceedings Reveal Tragic Events
According to the press service of the Aqtobe Regional Court, on the morning of November 20, 2025, the man, identified as A., was driving with his wife, Sh., along the Bogoslovsk highway near Aqtobe. An argument erupted between them inside the vehicle.
In a fit of rage, A. stopped the car with the intention of killing his wife. He retrieved a kitchen knife from the vehicle, got into the back seat, and held his wife down by her legs. He then repeatedly stabbed her in the neck, inflicting fatal injuries. The court determined this act constituted intentional homicide.
Following the murder, A. purchased a rope from a roadside vendor. He then drove to an industrial workshop, climbed onto some equipment, and hanged himself with the rope.
Case Closure and Unanswered Questions
The specific motive behind the man's actions was not definitively established during the court proceedings. The defense lawyer submitted a motion to close the criminal case due to the defendant's death, a request supported by the prosecutor.
The court issued a ruling to terminate the case. It was previously reported that the couple had five children. Relatives stated that the pair had gone out for meat on the morning of November 20 and never returned home. Their worried family members initiated a search for them on social media later that evening, before police discovered their bodies outside the city.
