Atyrau family case: CCTV spots second daughter at gas station as parents found dead
Security cameras captured the missing family’s second daughter at a gas station in Atyrau Region’s Inder district — a key lead that narrowed the search days after her parents were found dead on 6 January. The case has unsettled Zhangeldin village in Kyzylkoga district and raised urgent questions about public safety.
This was reported by the Infohub.kz news agency.
What the footage reveals
Investigators confirmed that the daughter, who lived separately from her parents, left the family’s home by taxi on 5 November. Later, CCTV at a filling station in Inder district recorded her movements. Authorities say she and her husband then headed toward Uzbekistan.
What relatives noticed
Residents told KTK TV the family kept to themselves and never caused trouble. Neighbor Usen Zholdassuly recalled no suspicious activity at the house, where two pensioners lived with their two children with disabilities.
Shalkar Mukangaliyev, a relative, said he grew concerned after receiving unusual WhatsApp texts from the family’s son, who wrote that his mother had fallen ill and offered to sell livestock — but never sent voice notes or appeared on video calls. Farizat Kenzhegalieva, the sister of the deceased man, said the family’s silence around 14 December was especially alarming because her brother would not leave his animals unattended.
Search operations expanded
Zhantore Demeshov, a department head at the Atyrau regional emergency service, said teams are combing the Shadymantubek, Besmola and Birmola areas, as well as the Karasu vicinity indicated by police. Divers and an underwater drone are working across a radius of up to 20 kilometers.
Timeline so far
Family members first noticed the disappearance in October. On 5 November, the second daughter left by taxi; later, cameras recorded her at a gas station in Inder district. On the evening of 6 January, police discovered the bodies of the spouses in an outbuilding near their home. The two children are still missing, and the homeowner’s mobile phone has intermittently appeared online without answering calls.
Official investigation
Police have opened a criminal case under the article on murder. Authorities urge the public to rely on verified updates only and ask anyone with relevant information to contact law enforcement.
