Bibisara Assaubayeva Clinches Norway Chess 2026 Title Early
Kazakhstani chess sensation Bibisara Assaubayeva has emerged victorious at the esteemed Norway Chess 2026 tournament held in Norway, securing the championship title ahead of the final round.
Competing in Oslo, Assaubayeva clinched her title in the 9th round. A draw in her classical game against Ukraine's Anna Muzychuk was enough to maintain her lead, solidifying her championship status.
Tournament Triumph
While the classical match between Assaubayeva and Muzychuk ended in a tie, the subsequent Armageddon game saw the Ukrainian player gain an advantage. However, this result did not impact Assaubayeva's overall victory, as a single point was sufficient to secure the championship.
Prize and Ranking
As the tournament winner, Bibisara Assaubayeva is set to receive a prize of 700,000 Norwegian Kroner, approximately 63,000 Euros. This significant achievement follows her previous success in May, when she ranked 7th in the updated world rankings for women by the International Chess Federation (FIDE).
This victory underscores Assaubayeva's growing prominence in the international chess arena.
