Bridge Collapse on International M-32 Highway Restricts Traffic
A critical section of a bridge on the international M-32 highway near the city of Oral has begun to collapse, leading to significant traffic restrictions. The incident occurred on April 30th around 6:00 PM.
Bridge Structure Fails
The collapse involved one of the bridge's side panels, which fell into the Chagan River along with its protective barriers. This section of the M-32 highway is a vital transit route.
Traffic Restrictions Implemented
Authorities have implemented traffic limitations following the incident. Currently, traffic is only permitted to flow in one direction at a time, alternating between sides. Local residents report long queues forming as a result, with access primarily being granted to those living on the other side of the bridge.
Official Statement
Asylbek Mardan, head of the local branch of KazAvtoZhol JSC, confirmed that the bridge had previously been classified as being in an emergency condition. He stated that efforts are underway to manage the situation and ensure alternating traffic flow. The bridge was previously recognized as being in an emergency state.
This incident highlights concerns about the structural integrity of key transportation infrastructure.
