Former Akim Found Dead Days After Resignation in Aktobe Region

A former Akim in Kazakhstan's Aktobe region has been found dead at his home just days after his resignation from the post. The circumstances surrounding the death of Kuanyshbek Serikzhanov, the former Akim of the Kenkiyak rural district, are currently under investigation.

Resignation and Discovery

According to official information, Serikzhanov submitted his resignation on May 4, 2026. An order to relieve him of his duties was signed on May 5. Tragically, on the morning of May 6, Serikzhanov was found deceased in his home in the village of Kenkiyak.

Investigation Underway

The Aktobe Regional Police Department has confirmed that a pre-trial investigation has been launched into the death of the man, born in 1983. Authorities have stated that all circumstances of the incident will be clarified during the investigation. Further details are being withheld in the interest of the ongoing inquiry.

Background

Kuanyshbek Serikzhanov had been in public service since 2013 and had served as the Akim of the rural district since 2023. This incident follows a previous report of the death of Yerkin Dalmagambetov, the Akim of Temir city in the Aktobe region, who was also found deceased. Colleagues reported that Dalmagambetov had met with friends before his death and was found later in his own yard.
