Kazakh MPs Suggest $500 Monthly Income is Sufficient for Living
Two members of the Kazakh Parliament have recently voiced opinions on what constitutes a sufficient monthly income, igniting public discussion. Their statements suggest that a monthly income of 200,000 to 250,000 tenge is enough to cover basic living costs.
Parliamentarians' Perspectives
Kudaybergen Beksultanov, a Member of the Mazhilis (lower house) with over 25 years of parliamentary experience, emphasized that human desires for income are often limitless. He noted that regardless of earnings, individuals might still feel it's insufficient. However, he stressed the importance of realistically assessing one's needs and living accordingly.
Beksultanov shared that he currently receives a pension of 246,000 tenge per month. He believes the core issue isn't just the amount of money, but rather an individual's skills and essential life requirements.
Is 200,000-250,000 Tenge Enough?
Senator Bekbolat Orynbekov echoed similar sentiments, stating that living on 200,000-250,000 tenge per month is feasible. He believes this sum is adequate to meet daily necessities.
The senator mentioned that, like ordinary citizens, he shops for groceries and pays utility bills. Therefore, he considers 250,000 tenge sufficient for a basic standard of living.
Orynbekov also drew a comparison to international standards, noting that an income of approximately $500 per month is comparable to figures seen in other countries.
These viewpoints from the deputies prompt reflection on pension levels, living standards, and the actual cost of living within Kazakhstan.
