Kazakhstan Cracks Down on Fake Employment Schemes for Social Benefits

Kazakhstan is intensifying efforts to combat widespread fraud involving fake employment to illegally obtain state social benefits. Authorities have launched a significant crackdown, leading to the prosecution and imprisonment of dozens of individuals who orchestrated these deceptive schemes.

Widespread Fraud Uncovered

The State Social Insurance Fund (SSIF) has reported that 38 criminal cases have been initiated across 13 regions of the country. An audit of the national database revealed that 258 entrepreneurs had created fictitious employment records. Through these sham employment relationships, over 4,400 citizens attempted to claim illegal payments.

Sentences Handed Down

Courts in regions including Aktobe, Mangystau, Kyzylorda, and East Kazakhstan have already issued guilty verdicts in 9 criminal cases. Twelve organizers of these illicit schemes were found guilty of orchestrating fake employment and defrauding the state. They have been sentenced to prison terms ranging from 3 to 5 years.

Technology Aids Detection

Marat Zhanybekov, Deputy Chairman of the SSIF, explained that the full digitalization of systems is crucial in identifying these fraudulent activities. "Digitalization allows us to cross-check data from various information systems in real-time. Attempts to artificially inflate income or create fake employment are detected during the analysis phase," Zhanybekov stated.

Warning to Citizens

The SSIF urges citizens to be wary of suspicious 'consultants' and 'assistants' found on social media. These individuals often offer to increase benefit amounts in exchange for payment or a share of the funds. It is important to note that providing personal data to third parties for the purpose of processing inflated payments can lead to criminal liability, not only for the scheme organizers but also for the recipients of the illicit funds.

For any consultations regarding social payments in Kazakhstan, citizens can reach out through official channels, and all advice is provided free of charge.
