Mother Who Abused Son Sent for Involuntary Treatment in Zhetysu
A court in the Zhetysu region has issued a ruling in a criminal case involving a 28-year-old mother who was found to have severely beaten her 4-year-old son. The woman has been ordered to undergo involuntary psychiatric treatment due to her mental condition.
The case was heard at the Panfilov District Court. Previously, reports emerged that the woman had tied her child to a radiator after an incident of abuse in the settlement of Nurkent.
Court Proceedings and Findings
Following the initiation of criminal proceedings, a forensic psychiatric examination was ordered. Experts determined that the woman suffers from mild intellectual disability and significant personality disorders. Their conclusion stated that at the time of the incident, she did not comprehend the nature of her actions and lacked the capacity to control them.
Court's Decision
The court decided to release the woman from criminal liability and commit her to a general psychiatric hospital for mandatory treatment. It was also noted that due to her condition, she was unable to participate in the court proceedings and posed a risk to herself and others.
Children's Welfare
The woman's two children have been placed in a children's institution in Taldykorgan. They are currently under the care of educators and medical professionals, and are receiving support from a psychologist and a speech therapist. Guardianship authorities are preparing further materials to make decisions regarding the children's future.
