Neighbors of Sultan Sarsemaliev and Akbayan, who have been named as suspects in a recent violent incident in Atyrau, have come forward with previously unheard details about the couple's life. The revelations offer a stark contrast to the image of a quiet, unassuming family.

According to a former resident of the building where the incident occurred, Sultan and Akbayan were their neighbors in the second half of 2023. At first glance, they appeared to be a very ordinary and peaceful couple.

A Seemingly Kind and Quiet Family

The former neighbors described Sultan and Akbayan as having a very good relationship with them. They even mentioned that the couple would bake and bring them pies and baursaki every Friday. This gesture of kindness painted a picture of a friendly and integrated household within the community.

There were no outward signs of unusual behavior from the couple. Akbayan was known for keeping her home tidy, while Sultan was perceived as a calm and reliable individual. The neighbor even entrusted Sultan with watching her children when her husband worked night shifts, highlighting a level of trust and perceived stability.

"They seemed like a very gentle family to us," one neighbor recounted. "Sultan's older brother, Nauryz, also used to visit, and we saw him. Akbayan's mother also frequently came to look after their children."

The neighbor's family moved out in the summer of 2023. Reflecting on their past interactions, the neighbor added, "Now that we think about it, we realize the saying 'fear the quiet ones' is true. It's become a scary world."

This account, reported by Zhanat Moldasheva, a correspondent for the Atryrau regional branch of the KTK television channel, sheds new light on the individuals involved in the disturbing events.
