Producer's Claim to Historical 'Kyz Zhibek' Costume Sparks Public Debate

A recent statement by renowned producer Bayan Alaguzova regarding her acquisition of a historical costume worn by Meruert Utekeshova in the classic film 'Kyz Zhibek' has triggered a significant online debate.

A Historical Relic's Fate

Alaguzova shared on her Instagram page that she intends to keep the costume for the rest of her life. She highlighted that the garment holds 50 years of history and was specifically worn by Utekeshova during her portrayal of Kyz Zhibek.

The producer also announced that the upcoming 'Kazakh Aruy' (Kazakh Beauty) competition will be dedicated to the image of Kyz Zhibek and Meruert Utekeshova. However, it remains unclear whether the costume was gifted or purchased.

Public Outcry and Opinions

Upon hearing the news, many social media users expressed their disapproval, arguing that such a historical artifact should be preserved in a museum. Comments included sentiments like, "I think this very valuable national item should be in a museum," and "This 50-year-old historical relic belongs in the National Museum."

While some users suggested the costume be given to specific individuals, others called for understanding in the situation.
