US Seeks Arab Nations to Fund Potential Iran Conflict Costs
The White House has signaled that U.S. President Donald Trump is keen on having Arab nations finance the potential costs associated with a conflict with Iran. This intention was revealed by White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt.
Arab Financial Support Under Consideration
Levitt suggested that the U.S. President might call upon Arab countries to contribute financially to war expenses. She indicated that President Trump himself would likely elaborate further on this matter.
"I won't get ahead of him, but I think it would be very interesting for the President to invite him to this event. Of course, I know he has such an idea, and I think you will hear more about it," Levitt stated during a press conference, responding to journalists' questions about the readiness of Arab countries to provide financial assistance related to the conflict.
Ongoing Negotiations
A White House representative confirmed that negotiations with Iran are ongoing and progressing positively. She highlighted a discrepancy between Tehran's public statements and private discussions.
"Despite all the regime's public statements and fake news, negotiations are continuing and proceeding successfully. Of course, what is said publicly differs significantly from the information conveyed to us privately," she said.
She cautioned that all statements made by Iran in private meetings would be verified, and the U.S. would ensure Tehran upholds its commitments. Previously, U.S. President Donald Trump had spoken about ongoing negotiations with Iran's "new and smart regime." Trump had pledged to destroy strategic targets if an agreement was not reached. Tehran, however, denied claims that Trump had agreed to most of the U.S. demands for a ceasefire, labeling the proposal as "unfeasible."
