Kazakhstan Braces for Severe Weather: Frost, Storms, and Fog Expected

Kazakhstan is set to experience a significant shift in weather patterns this Sunday, with forecasters issuing storm warnings for multiple regions. Residents are advised to be vigilant as conditions deteriorate, bringing risks of frost, snow, and powerful winds.

Regional Weather Outlook

In the Abai region, fog is expected in the northern areas during the night and morning, with temperatures dropping to 1 degree Celsius below freezing in the west. The northern and eastern parts of the East Kazakhstan region may see rain and snow overnight, accompanied by a forecast of 2 degrees Celsius frost.

Several other regions are also bracing for adverse weather. Akmola, Pavlodar, and North Kazakhstan provinces can expect fog in the early morning hours, while maintaining a high fire risk. Meanwhile, the southern and central areas of the Aktobe region are anticipating dusty storms with wind gusts reaching up to 23 meters per second.

The western Atyrau region might experience overnight rain and thunderstorms, with dusty storms predicted for other districts. Western Kazakhstan will see intermittent rain and lightning overnight, followed by dust storms during the day. In the northern and western parts of the Almaty region, winds are expected to intensify, reaching speeds of up to 18 meters per second.

Jettisu region's eastern and central areas could face wind gusts of up to 25 m/s from the northeast. Mountainous areas of the Zhambyl region are forecast to have thunderstorms and intermittent rain, with wind speeds potentially hitting 23-28 m/s. Northern Turkestan region anticipates dusty storms with wind gusts of 23 m/s, while Shymkent could see winds between 15-20 m/s.

Karaganda region's southern areas will experience northeasterly winds of 15-20 m/s. Ulytau region is bracing for morning and daytime winds of 15-20 m/s, potentially reaching 23 m/s in some locations. The majority of Kyzylorda region is under a dusty storm warning, with wind speeds of 15-20 m/s, and gusts up to 23 m/s in the regional center during the day. These areas also face an extreme fire risk.

The Mangystau region will experience variable weather. The western, southern, and central parts of the region may see overnight rain and thunderstorms, with heavy rain possible in the center during the day. Fog is predicted for the western part of the region overnight and in the morning.
