Poet's Stark Warning: Kazakhs Risk Losing Independence Due to Societal Decline

A well-known Kazakh poet, Tanagoz Tolkynkyzy, has ignited a fervent discussion online with her sharp critique of what she perceives as a decline in spiritual values and national consciousness within Kazakh society. Her stark pronouncements suggest a worrying future for the nation's independence.

Concerns Over Eroding National Identity

The poet expressed deep apprehension regarding negative trends in contemporary Kazakh society, which she believes pose a significant threat to the nation's future. She articulated her views forcefully, stating, "Kazakhs will not be able to preserve their independence. Because we are turning into a low-quality nation. A nation without principles, ignorant. We are becoming a nation of flatterers, liars, hypocrites, traitors, without honor, fake, pseudo. They don't speak their own language. The slave mentality has penetrated our flesh and reached our bones. Nobody cares about anything. We are cowardly, boastful, boorish, devoid of critical thinking. We live a carefree, complacent life. Anyone can trample on us. We have become a weak, powerless, helpless people. We are unkind to each other, heartless. We hate each other more than dog meat."

She continued her critique, "We are robbing ourselves, turning into a mob detached from our own roots. We are becoming a thieving nation. This is our main characteristic today. We seem to be created only to consume. We think about where and what to steal and eat. There are no values. If our stomachs are full, we will sell everything. I see not a person, but only their stomach. Tomorrow you will forget your own language and disappear. The black ants that have occupied Astana will not leave this country and return to their homeland. They consider the place they came to as their homeland. Because they know that a nation without principles will sell its land, language, flag, and independence for money. You will not change now!"

Public Reaction and Debate

The poet's powerful message quickly became a focal point of discussion among social media users. A significant portion of the online community resonated with her words, agreeing that they reflect harsh truths about present-day society and offering their support. Some readers expressed their own anxieties about current societal issues and the future of the younger generation.
