Stolen January Weapon Discovered Near Almaty's Sairan Lake

A firearm that was stolen during the widespread unrest in January has been discovered near the shores of Sairan Lake in Almaty. The find is part of ongoing police operations to recover weapons and ammunition.

Discovery During Operation

The weapon was identified on April 27th by police officers during a special operation codenamed "Law and Order." According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, this particular firearm was previously stolen from an arms shop during the events of January.

Nationwide Weapon Recovery

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that since the beginning of the year, law enforcement agencies have confiscated over 900 firearms. Of these, 74 were confirmed stolen during the January incidents. Additionally, more than 4,000 rounds of ammunition have been removed from illegal circulation.

Between April 27th and 29th, as part of the "Law and Order" operation, 67 firearms and over 200 rounds of ammunition of various calibers were seized across the country.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reminds citizens that individuals who voluntarily surrender illegally held firearms will be exempt from criminal and administrative liability.
