Tragedy Strikes as Three Kazakh Teens Drown in River While Trying to Save Friend

A tragic incident has unfolded in the West Kazakhstan region, where three high school graduates lost their lives in the Kishi Uzen River. The devastating event occurred shortly after the students had completed their final exams and gone to the riverbank for a relaxing outing.

A Friend's Rescue Attempt Turns Fatal

According to preliminary reports, the victims have been identified as 17-year-old Uldana Rafikh, 16-year-old Gulhan Turash, and 16-year-old Nurtas Zholdygali. The group of five teenagers had gathered by the river when the accident occurred. In a desperate attempt to save a friend who had gotten into trouble in the water, one of the girls entered the river. Tragically, she was unable to save her friend and also succumbed to the water. A young man who was with them also perished in the incident. This heartbreaking event has deeply affected the entire village.

Community Mourns Loss, Investigation Underway

Local residents described the deceased as bright students. The group of five had been driven to the river by acquaintances in a "Niva" vehicle. The driver was reportedly unaware that the teenagers intended to swim. Rescue teams recovered the second body at 7:25 PM and the third body at 7:42 PM. It has been reported that one of the deceased was the sister of the driver. Another victim was the daughter of a local district police inspector. The circumstances surrounding the tragedy are currently under investigation, with authorities working to determine the full details of what transpired.
