U.S. President Donald Trump announced on his Truth Social platform that a significant counter-terrorism operation has successfully eliminated one of the world's most active terrorists.

The operation, which targeted a key commander within the ISIS terrorist organization, was carried out in Nigeria.

Details of the Operation

President Trump stated, "This evening, at my direction, U.S. forces, with the support of Nigerian armed forces, successfully completed a counter-terrorism operation. We have eliminated one of the world's most active terrorists." He identified the individual as Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, described as the second most senior leader in ISIS's global hierarchy.

According to Trump, al-Minuki had been hiding in Africa, unaware that his activities were being closely monitored. The President emphasized that the elimination of this operative will prevent further terrorizing of African populations and disrupt operations against Americans. He also credited the successful operation with significantly weakening ISIS's global operations and thanked the Nigerian government for their partnership.

This action follows a previous U.S. strike against ISIS positions in Syria last December, known as "Operation Swallow," which was a response to an attack on American military personnel in Palmyra.
