The United States has carried out retaliatory strikes against Iran following the downing of an Apache helicopter, according to a statement from the U.S. Central Command. The operation was described as a defensive measure ordered by Commander-in-Chief Donald Trump in response to the destruction of the U.S. Army's Apache helicopter.

Central Command stated that the operation was an equivalent measure to the unjustified aggression from the Iranian side. This action marks a significant escalation in the ongoing tensions between the two nations.

Iranian media outlets reported explosions in several areas of the Persian Gulf, including the cities of Bandar Abbas, Qeshm, and Sirik. These reports also indicated that air defense systems were activated in response to perceived aerial threats.

White House Chief of Staff spoke to ABC News via phone around the time Central Command announced the retaliatory strike on Iran. He emphasized the importance of a response, stating, "I think it's very important to respond. They shot down the helicopter, and we are now responding with a strike."

Just hours prior, U.S. President had warned of a response after an Apache helicopter was shot down by Iran while on patrol over the Strait of Hormuz. U.S. Central Command confirmed that the two crew members of the AH-64 Apache helicopter were rescued by military personnel after their aircraft crashed into the sea off the coast of Oman.
