Almaty Court to Reassess Daniyar Khasenov's Bankruptcy Appeal
The Almaty court has decided to revisit Daniyar Khasenov's bankruptcy application, a move that could significantly impact his financial future. Khasenov, once the son-in-law of former President Nursultan Nazarbayev, is seeking to overturn a previous ruling that denied him bankruptcy status.
Background of the Case
On October 6, 2025, the Bostandyk District Court initially rejected Khasenov's bankruptcy claim. Khasenov contested this decision, arguing that he possesses no assets and has not engaged in any transactions that would harm creditors' interests. The court's latest decision nullifies the previous ruling, allowing for a fresh review of his case.
Financial Challenges and Implications
Khasenov's financial troubles are linked to his role as a guarantor for companies such as "AsiaPromSbyt," "Yrys-2004," "TransCargo International," and "SpecMashGroup LTD." These companies collectively borrowed over $33 million and three billion tenge from Kazkommertsbank. The court noted that Khasenov missed the deadline to submit documents proving attempts to settle debts with creditors, which initially led to the denial of his bankruptcy status.
This development is crucial as it may set a precedent for similar cases involving high-profile individuals in Kazakhstan.
