Renowned Kazakh singer Toktar Serik has shared a surprising stance on his relationships with his closest friends in the music industry, Meyrambek Besbayev and Saken Maigaziyev. Despite their deep bonds, Serik stated he would prefer not to become in-laws with them.

A Bond Stronger Than Friendship

Serik explained that his connection with Meyrambek Besbayev goes beyond mere friendship; he considers him like a brother. "I love Meyrambek not just as a friend, but like a relative," Serik said. "We grew up together. If tomorrow our children become close and want to marry, I might fall into a deep depression. Because I can never wish ill upon Meyrambek. He is like half of my soul. I cherish him so much, he has become family to me."

The singer also noted that he has known Saken Maigaziyev since childhood. While he would be happy if relationships formed between their children, he feels some situations are simply too precious to risk. "For me, they are my flesh and blood, my relatives. I am ready to go through fire and water for them. In Kazakh, I wouldn't give them up to enemies or disputes. But if we were to become in-laws, we Kazakhs are sensitive. If we get offended over trivial matters, it becomes the hardest thing in life. That's why I want to remain just friends with my friends," Toktar Serik concluded.

Toktar Serik is a multifaceted artist with a unique signature in Kazakh pop music. Born in 1976 in the East Kazakhstan region, the singer's full name is Toktar Kadyruly Serik. He is recognized not only as a singer but also as an actor, a performer of traditional folk songs (terme), and a dombra player.

His creative work primarily focuses on lyrical themes, resonating deeply with listeners. After graduating from the Kazakh National Conservatory in 1999, Toktar Serik has collaborated with prominent singers such as Meyrambek Besbayev, Kairat Nurtas, and Altinbek Korazbayev.

Serik's contributions to music have been recognized by the state, earning him the title of "Honored Worker of Kazakhstan" and the "Daryn" Youth Prize. His artistry is distinguished by its masterful blend of national traditions and contemporary pop music.
