Kazakhstan to Offer Generous Victory Day Payments to Veterans in 2026
Kazakhstan is preparing to offer substantial financial assistance to veterans of the Great Patriotic War on Victory Day in 2026, exceeding the amounts provided by Ukraine and Belarus.
According to publicly available data, the one-time aid in Kazakhstan is expected to reach approximately 5 million tenge, which is equivalent to about $11,100 USD. This figure represents a notable increase compared to similar payments made in other CIS countries.
Comparing Aid Across Nations
In Ukraine, the amount of assistance varies by category, generally ranging from 11,000 to 60,500 tenge (approximately $25 to $135 USD). Belarus offers its veterans a one-time payment of around 715,000 to 825,000 tenge (about $1,590 to $1,830 USD).
With its planned payment of 5 million tenge, Kazakhstan positions itself among the countries offering the highest financial support to veterans on Victory Day. Uzbekistan also provides considerable aid, with payments estimated between 4.4 and 4.5 million tenge ($9,780 to $10,000 USD).
In Russia, the base federal payment is approximately 55,000 tenge ($122 USD). However, when regional supplements are included, this sum can increase to 440,000 tenge ($978 USD) or even more.
Factors Influencing Payment Disparities
Experts point out that the differences in payment amounts across various countries are influenced by economic capabilities, social policies, and the remaining number of veterans.
It's also important to note that within each country, the specific sums can differ based on the region and the veteran's category.
Previously, it was reported that Kazakhstan had decided against holding a military parade on Victory Day.
