Tursynbek Kabatov's Daughter Sparks Debate Over Kazakh Language Use
Aiaru, the daughter of well-known Kazakh comedian Tursynbek Kabatov, has stirred a public conversation with her candid remarks about speaking her native Kazakh language. Her admission of having an accent and feeling uncomfortable speaking Kazakh has drawn both criticism and support online.
Aiaru's Perspective on Language
In a recent statement shared on her Instagram page, Aiaru expressed her personal views on the Kazakh language. While she affirmed her understanding of Kazakh, she acknowledged a noticeable accent when speaking it. She attributed this difficulty to her education in an English-language school and the fact that most of her friends communicate in Russian.
Challenges in Speaking Kazakh
"I know the Kazakh language; I can speak, write, and read it. When I was little, I mastered it 100%. But since starting school, I'm starting to forget it. This is because I studied at an English school from the first grade. All my friends speak only English and Russian. Even if my family speaks Kazakh, I might speak Russian. Because I don't like speaking Kazakh, I have an accent, and I'm starting to forget it," Aiaru explained.
Online Reactions and Debate
Aiaru's comments quickly became a hot topic among social media users. Many criticized her, accusing her of evading responsibility. However, some users showed understanding and offered support for her situation. She also mentioned that comments like "Are you Kazakh? Why do you speak Russian?" deeply affect her.
This discussion highlights the complex relationship many young Kazakhs have with their native language in an environment where Russian and English are also widely spoken.
