Zelensky Accuses Russia of Violating May 9th Truce with Renewed Attacks
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Russia of violating a proposed ceasefire ahead of the significant May 9th Victory Day commemorations. Zelensky stated that instead of halting hostilities, Russia responded to Ukraine's call for peace with further strikes and attacks.
Russia's Response to Truce Proposal
"Russia responded to our proposal for a truce with new strikes and attacks," Zelensky announced via his Telegram channel. He detailed that within a single day, attacks were recorded across the Donetsk, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions of Ukraine.
Ukraine's Stance on Continued Hostilities
The Ukrainian leader emphasized that Russia has not ceased its military activities. "Russia has not stopped any military activity. Ukraine will respond accordingly," Zelensky asserted, indicating Ukraine's readiness to defend itself.
Readiness for Peace Talks
Despite the ongoing conflict, Zelensky reiterated Ukraine's commitment to peace negotiations. He expressed Ukraine's willingness to coordinate a ceasefire with the involvement of international partners. "Ukraine is ready to work for peace. We want to end this war with dignity," he concluded.
